When we need to make a decision there is always missing information. We can miss a lot of information or almost nothing, but we are never 100% sure. This happens for many reasons, and most of them are explained in the following mental model: [[The map is not the territory]]
Taking the hardest path in case of doubt will generate superior outcomes because it will minimise the following biases:
1. [Our brain defaults to the simple](https://thegrowtheq.com/choosing-the-difficult-path/), conserving our energy, not doing the difficult work.
3. It will allow us to differentiate because most people will take the easy decision
4. It will increase optionality because hard decisions will force us to explore things with more detail what facilitates discovering new things
5. The solution provided will be better and most robust
